John and Desiree Chantarasak are a husband and wife team passionate about the flavours and culture of Thailand. Together, they run AngloThai, an innovative London-based start-up, which marries traditional Thai recipes and flavours with seasonal British ingredients with a low-intervention wine programme. Currently running pop-ups and restaurant takeovers, John and Desiree are in the process of opening their first AngloThai restaurant.
John has half British and half Thai heritage, drawing influences from both cuisines when creating dishes for AngloThai. He has cooked with notable restaurants and chefs across the world, including the acclaimed Thai restaurants, Som Saa in London and Nahm in Bangkok. This year John made his national television debut on the Great British Menu and has been twice short-listed as ‘Chef of the Year’ by the Young British Foodie Awards. Desiree has worked in wine bars and bottle shops across London while completing studies in Wine & Spirit Education Trust. Desiree’s passion for wine has taken her to vineyards across the UK and Europe in search of the best wines to pair with the food served at AngloThai.
“We are thrilled to be involved with such a fantastic charity that is so close to our hearts. Thai culture and heritage runs deep through our philosophy at AngloThai and we are honoured to be able to support such a deserving cause.”
